Lost in the City
One night Lin awakes in a side alley between giant buildings and rubble -and cant remember anything. Not what she did or how she came here, not even her real name. So she starts her long journey to regain her lost memories. But it doesn’t take long until other people notice her. And not just friendly ones.
Soon half of the city’s underground is on the move and the fragile power balance between gangs, corpos and the police starts to crack. And all this while she struggles with her physical condition and strange visions too.
Cutscenes
The cutscenes are the heart of the game. When you enter a new location or talk to an NPC you start one of the many scenes that are not fully animated (because I’m just one developer – real anime scenes would be way too much for me) but with the authentic voice acting and sound engineering it still feels like you are live in the moment.
And here you make the decisions that can change the whole story. Even something subtle like how you say something can change how other characters see you. And don’t mess with the wrong guys.
All your actions will fall back to you. Sooner or later…
Open World
The other part of the game is the exploration in the open world. Well, its not exactly „open“. Because of technical limitations I had to split the city into several areas. But since you can move freely from one to the other without long loading screens it still feels like a complete open city.
And not only the cutscenes will decide how the story continues. The places you discover, the people you meet during your exploration can have a major impact too. And even some random sidearcs may have a much bigger influence than you
would assume at first.
Cortega
Cortega is a chaotic and overcrowded city full of corrupt politics, gangs and ruthless corpos – with the C.P.D. trying to maintain a fragile order.
The explorable area is split into three districts: Westgate, Japantown and the City Center. Westgate is a run down place and with its big market its a famous spot for smugglers and illegal sales. Japantown is not much wealthier, but
with its unique architecture, the park and the docks its a beautiful district with many faces. And the City Center is where the heart of Cortega beats. With so many people and skyscrapers so tall that the whole center needs a second
level above the ground.
